Parish Ministries

Cursillo

Cursillo (Spanish for "short course") is an intense Christian formation process that takes place over a three-day weekend. The purpose of Cursillo is to convert Christians to a deeper relationship with God in order to better help them understand their individual calling to be Christian leaders. Those who have attended a Cursillo are encouraged to meet weekly in small "Reunion Groups" and monthly in "Ultreyas" with other "Cursillistas" using the method of piety, study, and action.

A Reunion Group meets at St. John's at 10:00 AM Friday mornings. Ultreyas are held at 5:00 PM on the first Sunday of every other month at one of the following: St. John's Abilene, St. Paul's Clay Center, St. Luke's Wamego, St. Paul's Manhattan, or Church of the Covenant Junction City.

Parish Basket

At the base of the lectern is a donation basket for non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies. This basket is reserved specifically for needy members of St. John's parish family.

Prayer & Praise Potlucks

St. John's undercroft is full of laughter, music, and the enticing aromas of good food every third Wednesday of the month - our Prayer & Praise Potlucks. This fellowship ministry celebrates our love of God and one another.

Prayer & Praise Potlucks start at 6:00 PM. There's always plenty for everyone whether you bring a dish or not. Children are always welcome.
